Mike, as always you will get as many responses (almost all valid in their own right) as there are different speakers. However, based on three facts, 1) you already have owned Hales speakers; 2) your stated objectives; and 3) that due to the uncertainty of the future of Hales Design Group, you can probably get a great deal on the Transcendence Series; I think you would be delighted and amazed at what a pair of the T-8s (yes the 8s, not the 5s, due to the price you can get them for) would do for your system. They soundstage better than anything around near that size, they can CERTAINLY fill up your room and you have enough power to make them sing. Yes, opinions may differ on what is the best or great, but since you have heard Hales, are considering the 5s anyway, I think you will find that the 8s are truly world class transducers! JMHO!Good luck in your search!
