Re: ProAc Response 1SC vs SF Concert(o,ino)

I've tried all three of these speakers. The Response One SC and the Concertino are both excellent models at their respective price points.

The Concerto errs on the warm side of neutral, and needs a medioum-sized room. It faces tough competition from the B&W N805.

The Concertino is one of my favorite speakers in this price range. It is a good speaker to build a system around. And when you outgrow it, it makes a killer speaker in a secondary system.

The Concertino's mid-treble can be a bit sharp. But you can mitigate this by filling the stands with sand, and placing them closer to the back wall. The very tippy top os slightly rolled off, so it'll be forgiving of cheap, zingy electronics. It has a lively upper-bass, which makes rock 'n' roll fun, but I admit it does lack some power and punch. And its mids are a real strength. Voices and instuments are a little scaled-down in size, but all the texture, nuance, expression, and emotion remain.

The ProAc Response One SC is another story. From the midbass on up, it's simply one o the best speakers around, at any price. So, you can hook it up to crappy electronics, but you'll be utterly amazed, each time you replace one of those crappy components. And when you finally assemble the best in electronics, the Response One SC reveals all of it, minus the deep bass and ultimate loudness and dynamics.
