I used the MkII version for a while before upgrading to the MkIII. The MkIII is more robust. I did not have the King speakers at the time I was using the MkII. The integrated in stereo mode is only 70 wpc, which is really underpowered for those speakers. If you were pushing the amp fairly hard to achieve higher listening levels then it may have been too taxing on it.

I saw your original post regarding the failure of the amp and I thought it was unusual that it would just die. But knowing the speaker being used it makes sense that it was vastly underpowered and possibly contributed to the failure. I would definitely consult with Quad and the amp manufacturer and weigh heavily what they say. You don't want a trashed Tenor.
