So I just bypassed the 2 larger caps with two 0.1uF FT-3 Russian Teflon caps. I did some critical listening beforehand with my test tracks, and after bypassing, I did some initial listening as well.I was pleased to find only nice film caps (Aeon Tru Caps) and no electrolytics in the stock crossover. BTW, all the teflon caps were previously well-used and burned-in.
A bit unexpectedly, the FIRST thing I noticed was an improved imaging specificity and more solid, 3-D rendering of those images. I was expecting to hear more high-end resolution and extension, which was also true, but it was the 3-D, palpable images that really popped out.
These are not night-and-day type differences but well worth the effort so far, and we'll see if things improve further with more use...
