So I just bypassed the 2 larger caps with two 0.1uF FT-3 Russian Teflon caps. I did some critical listening beforehand with my test tracks, and after bypassing, I did some initial listening as well.
I was pleased to find only nice film caps (Aeon Tru Caps) and no electrolytics in the stock crossover. BTW, all the teflon caps were previously well-used and burned-in.
A bit unexpectedly, the FIRST thing I noticed was an improved imaging specificity and more solid, 3-D rendering of those images. I was expecting to hear more high-end resolution and extension, which was also true, but it was the 3-D, palpable images that really popped out.
These are not night-and-day type differences but well worth the effort so far, and we'll see if things improve further with more use...
