I guess my next question and comment is what do you look for as far as voltages go when matching up amps, pre, speakers? I don't even have a CD player now, listen to vinyl but I will get a CDP again at some point. The specs on my preamp don't give an output voltage but they give an output impedance of 1600 Ohms and a gain of 9 dB.
Synergy is important and I'm trying to figure where to start and it seems matching the components up so their voltages and impedance matches goes a long way toward getting the most of the whole system.
As I stated below I'm going to try a pair of Proac 2.5's in my system, picking them up Tuesday or at least that's the plan. They have a sensitivity of 86db and I've read many posts that they're awesome with tube amps. I know it's the sound that matters and not a bunch of specs but obviously getting things close makes the rest easier, so I'm learning a little at a time.
