these are speakers that will pass along any improvements in the sound of the electronics. my friend did quite well with counterpoint pre and the adcom 5500, or 5400, or 5800 he had. he had all three. and yes, they can take and require some power.

i also heard the aerius do well with a 40wpc nad integrated. be prepared to experiment with speaker positioning.
