At best a 2.5 way speaker design would have to be a compromise since the speaker position will vary from room to room, no mattter what distance from the front wall the owner's manual recommends. That's probably better than a narrow-baffle two-way speaker that HAS to be located near the front wall to avoid the effects of BSD.
