Bother to visit a more-specialized DIY speaker building web forum as linked or mentioned in other replys to this thread. There is no such forum catagory in the Audio Asylum & as such no real info per such design process in the archives here either. As minumum tools for such design, a microphone, frequency generator & modeling software (not freeware) are required. The Radio Shack SPL meter is not accurate for such design work (perform a google dot com search of this meter). A 3-way is especially difficult to get right even for those expert in such design process & not a 1st-timer novice recommended project. Knowing where you might cross-over & designing a circut that accomplishes that in the acoustic realm is not possible via textbook resistance reactance formulae (because speakers have Alternating Current impedance that varies with frequency rather than Direct Current fixed resistance). That duty is where the computer modeling program helps. Read Prestos' other reply to this thread for another view of reality.
