How can sound travel less than speed of sound?

You feel you have a grasp on this, but you overlook a simple fact, how can sound travel less than speed of sound?

Measure the speed of drum head or measure speed of driver, is not the same as the speed of the sound coming off those two membranes.

It is that simple. You are confusing the ability of a driver to follow the waveform (overshoot, impuetus, etc) with the sound eminating from the driver cone.

You are, as others have said, hopeless in grasping this issue.
