I've been intrigued by these. They sure LOOK like something from Gallo (at least the Gallos of 8-10 years ago) and I've wondered if they suffer the same coherency issues. You don't notice this at first because the first-generation Gallos' lack of boxiness, which helps make them disappear sonically, is so entrancing you tend to overlook it. Or at least I did, before getting the Ref 3s.
