Back in the early 90's consumer reports rated the Advent Legacy II one the top buys in medium-priced speakers, noting fairly good accuracy and decent bass extension with low distortion. As a mainstream, widely distributed product it was considered a good, quality buy @ about $400 a pair and compared favorably with Bostons, Infinitys, EPI's, Polk, et.al. in the same price range--certainly better than Sony, Technics, and Kenwood. The Legacy's shortcoming was probably the fact they crossed the 1" soft dome tweeter (quite good) with a 10" woofer at a point which neither driver was able to handle properly, especially at louder volumes. Still, if you can find another @ $10 you'll have a heck of a good pair of decent speakers for twenty bucks :-)
