Why not just buy a pair of well maintained DQ-10s? they wouldn't be easy to find but they are probably out there - maybe $500-$700 for the pair. You could buy an ARC SP-8 MkII and a VT200 for the balance of the $5k and rock out with clarity and definition that would keep you smiling.
