And... Let's say you have a fairly typical 12dB/octave crossover the signal at double the crossover frequency - because the rolloff takes a little while to get going, is only down 10dB or so - which is only half as loud - the signal has to get down 30dM or so (30x) to drop to a level that doesn't invade the sound.
