The Spendor SP1/2 is often compared to the Harbeth HL5.

Can you take a trip to a big city for an 'audition tour'? When I did this, while I wasn't able to have the benefit of hearing the speakers in my space with my gear, I was still able to hear some major differences between speakers. When I finally found the Spendors, they were in this terrible room (acoustically), but I could still discern their unique qualities (that I had been searching for). I took them home, auditioning them in my space, and the qualities I had heard in the 'showroom' were still there in spades in my room, even though my room (and gear) were COMPLETELY different.

Best of luck!

Tom

PS: Many companies will ship speakers to you for an audition -- you just have to get them back to them in the same condition to get your money back.
