i was of the understanding that a crossovers functions was to filter out sound frequencies above or below a certain hz.
i was mucking around with a tone generator program tonight, and i noticed that no matter where i set the frequency crossover dial on my new sub (40-180Hz) it would still play a tone all the way up to 210Hz irrelivant of where i set the crossover dial to ie. i set the dial to 40Hz and then played a 120hz tone, the only difference the frequency crossover dial seems to make is the volume of the sound(there is a seperate volume control dial)

am i missing something about crossovers? shouldn't there be no sound coming out unless the frequency is in the specified range of the dial?

i dunno...i think i am missing something..and i am prolly gunna feel stupid when someone answers this..but it just seems like my sub is playing to much of the wrong noise

Thanks for the help...
