It is extreme low bass (15hz to 25 hz) bass (25-50 hz) and mid bass (50-100hz).
To get extreme low bass you have to move a bunch of air. To move this much air you will almost always require boundary reinforcement which is not a good location for tuneful midbass response.
To get solid bass and tuneful mid bass, you do much better with 7" to 10" drivers either single or in multiple arrays.
You get speed, definition and slam all at the same time.
It all comes down to how you like your bass. Mine is tight and tuneful and goes down to 18hz.
That is because I am using two 12 inch drivers with boundary reinforcement, and two 7 inch mid bass drivers in the satellites to get the tight and tuneful action I enjoy.
I could not get this same magic with only the 12 inch driver.
