It is generally known that open baffle speakers are ideal for jazz and classics. Yesterday I switched my Silverline Sonata-III for my second pair of speakers which are open baffle design and have approx. the same sensitivity as the Sonatas. My yesterday's last track with Sonatas was Mozart Clarinet Quintet "Kegelstatt" Trio (Eloquence/Deutsche Grammophon, if I'm not mistaken). I was very satisfied with the music and the sound - open, airy and light.
Yesterday I switched Sonatas for a pair of Italian open baffle speakers and listened to Ben Webster "With Strings" - it was excellent and I liked it better than with Sonatas.
But today, when I decided to listen to Mozart again, I was a little disappointed - the souind is etcny with excessive brightness and detail. The I/C cable is Kimber 1021 Select, and the speaker cables are Pure Nore Cerulean bi-wire (in both cases). Perhaps I should try other I/C cables for a start, as Kimber by themselves are bright and incisive.
I will appreciate all comments and recommendations.
