Posted this before but not getting far enough.

I have reasons to replace the drivers and possibly crossovers of my WP5.1's as I came and jumped at an irresistible offer of getting two non-matched Watts. Furthermore the tweeter surface had been damaged although working fine though unlikely perfectly,not to mention the non-match (one side clearly louder). I've been recently contemplating changing the drivers (tweeters and/or crossovers only maybe) to ones that are matched and new.

For those familiar with the Watts, what would you think my options are? Yes, I admit that although the WP's strengths are consistent with the general opinions, the highs can be fatiguing. I'm questioning whether tweeter technologies, etc have improved to the point not available to Dave Wilson at that time and also, it has been said that Wilson are "cost-efficient " in getting the best bang for their buck with the average Focal tweeter in the case of the Watt. For instance, I'm eyeing the Scanspeak R2904-70000's as used in Magico Mini amongst other speakers.
Hence, appreciate any views, experiences and any one willing to challenge that you can indeed do better than the Man himself?
