The big no-no IMO with that WalMart extension cable is that it is stranded. However, yes, I agree the Multi-Contact bananas are the best! :-))

You could do a very inexpensive experiment which I am positive will show you the WLM speaker cable can easily be bettered (but use the same MC bananas):
* Simply buy some standard Cat5 cable; this is 8x24g solid-core conductors.
* Strip the ends off all 8 wires, solder to the banana plugs and put some red heatshrink over the banana/wire interface.
* repeat with another length of Cat5 cable but use black heatshrink.

You now have the hot/ground pair for one speaker cable ... repeat for the second channel.

If you like this, I can tell you how to make it better.
