don't believe he liked them well enough to recommend them. I started subscribing in 1971 and I don't recall seeing them listed. Still have one issue from '71 (when it was still his list) and KLH 9, Infinity SS-1, Quad ESL, Advent, etc. were recommended but no JBL.

Don't know where you found their Index but Stereophile web site only has reviews going back to 1975.
