During our courtship my wife learned that fine sounding stereo toys are great fun and she has no problems with the (all too) many stereo toys in our house. She even noted the difference in some overpriced speaker cables!

Get a life and put your foot down. Be a man.

And as my wife just added (while sitting on my lap), if she was a good wife, she would make covers for your electrostats so the soot from the fireplace does not impact them.

Be a man. She will respect you for it. Sound first, wife behaviour must follow!
