Hi sq:

You may have a clear idea what a "fast" woofer or subwoofer means but to me it is a vague term. See the link to my recent post and the variety of responses it generated.

While my question was intended for a basic woofer, not subwoofer, I can offer a recommendation on subwoofers. The best integrated (with large floor standing main speakers that extended below 40 Hz) subwoofer I've heard, in musical terms (as opposed to HT sound effects, although it was good for that too), was a friend's new Velodyne with digital room EQ. A different friend who heard this system proclaimed it to offer the best organ playback he ever heard in a home system, and he has extensive experience recording organs.
