They certainly have a sweet spot when positioned right, but they also can take a lot of abuse as to distances to walls and still deliver excellent soundstage. Even after the wife is cleaning and one speaker is aimed 30° away from the listening position they will deliver a real soundstage. I also found my 2CE Signatures to really open up when bi-amped. It's probably just due to them having more power but the dynamics and bass were noticably improved.
