From my experience as a past Vandy owner and hearing them in many different showrooms and homes, keep them away from walls, both front and side, as much as possible.
The two best auditions I ever heard with any series of the 2s happened years ago, first at Havens and Hardesty, then at Bill Low's (Audioquest) home. In both examples the speakers were located more than six feet from the nearest wall. Close your eyes and they disappeared, presenting a HUGE soundstage.
