I've begun looking for a pair of floorstanding speakers for the office, and briefly heard and liked the sound of the Revel Concerta F12's. I need to spend more time auditioning them, but at the same time, I'm wondering if anyone can comment on some specifics.
It's a decent-sized by not enormous office - 12x16, with 8 foot ceilings, carpeted. The only speaker locations available put them fairly close to the wall - certainly no more than 2 feet away. And a lot of my listening is done at fairly low volume, although if I'm working on the weekends, or late, I can crank it up.
Amplification is via an Outlaw 2150 (100 w/Ch into 8 ohms). I'm currently listening to Paradigm Reference Studio 20's, which I like a lot, but are always in danger of injury (which is among the reasons why I'm switching to floorstanders). Budget is up to $1500. Music is mostly classical, a lot of it vocal, varying from solo instrumental through opera and large-scale orchestral material. I value neutrality, as well as a relatively "forward" sound, while preferring to avoid anything overly bright.
Are the Revels sonic overkill for the size of the room? Will the near-wall location be a problem with them? And finally, how do they perform at low volume?
Are there any other options I should consider? I've also liked (again, brief auditions so far) the B&W 684's (and I will probably audition the 683's, since a local store sells both Revel and B&W) and the Monitor Audio RS6's.
