They were the first to use polypropylene cones, and I believe they still use a blended plastic cone of at least two types of plastics in order to dampen certain resonances. They actually manufacture a lot of thier own drivers.
They are the only manufacturer to advocate using thinner cabinet material, caliming that it shifts the resonant points to above the audible range.
Interesting company and considering that they aren't built on the scale of, say, Polk or Bose, their prices are of course much higher. And, of course as other have rightly pointed out, the huge US deficit isn't helping our exchange rate any (last I saw it was $2 per English Pound!).
