I'll throw out another option to try as an interesting experiment that no one else seems to mention(I'm probably wrong, there' rarely anything new under the sun). Stack them horizontally, woofer above woofer/tweeter above tweeter. A friend got great results with Dynaco A25s decades ago and mentioned it to me though it was before I knew him so I never heard it. But you should get a sort of line source affect and the interference affects don't look like they would be any worse than the pseudo D'Appolito format usually recommended. It's an easy experiment and worth a try.
