I agree. My son gave me a set of Pioneer RS-590s last year for Father's Day. They looked decent, sounded worse than horrible. I pulled all of the drivers and crossover out, re-braced the cabinets and put in fiberglass insulation (it had nothing). Then I bought new tweeters, mids, woofers, and crossovers from Parts Express. They now each set right beside a Pioneer HPM-900 and believe me - no comparison. The DIY-590s have an excellent midrange, good highs, and very good bass!
