By all means check the archives in the Vintage room. The topic has been discussed at great length on numerous occasions. The general consensus is that they should be vertical with the top speaker inverted to keep the tweeters in the middle and prevent too much bass, and they should be wired in series, or biamped. You are less likely to blow a tweeter when there are two to take share the work. There is some debate about whether two really is better than one, and there are definitely some trade offs. Look especially for posts by Bold Eagle.
