Alright people, hope this one generates some good discussion...

I'll be moving in to my first home in a couple months (high rise condo, small living space: 17'x17')

Looking to set up an audiophile-quality 2-channel system for my digital music collection - starting from scratch here.

Based on reviews/recommendations, I'll probably end up with a SqueezeBox 3. Soooo, looking for speakers to pair it with. Honestly, I was considering purchasing some B&Ws (700-series, floorstanding) prior to doing any research. Since then, Factory-Direct brands such as Aperion and AV123 have come to my attention.

Based on YOUR experience, knowledge, opinion, etc...would I be just as well off with a $1000 Factory-Direct solution as a $3000 B&W (or other big brand) solution? Generally speaking, do Factory-Direct speakers really offer comparable performance to more well known (and more expensive) speakers?

Only looking to spend $2k-3k here...thanks!
