Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Yes

It really depends on the room characteristics, stand, positioning, and furnishings, and listening position.

We were using the ProAc Response One SC in a warehouse. The outer walls were brick, so if we positioned the speakers in front of the brick (as opposed to drywall) walls, we got bass reinforcement. We placed the couch so that we sat about 9' from the plane of the speakers. We used 28" stands, to get the speakers at the right height. We placed room-dividing shoji screens to the left and right. This had the effect of making the room smaller.

No, the One SC will not shake the warehouse or give us stomach-curdling bass. But as long as we closed our selves in, the One SC was magical in that big warehouse.
