Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Found the review...........

..........and it boils down to this:

With the speaker grills in place, the frequency response is altered to an alarming degree and reversing the tweeters polarity brought the frequency balance back in line.

The Jaguars sound MUCH better with the grills removed with the tweeter polarity the same as the woofer. The average impedence is 9 ohms only dipping to 5 ohms at 3.8khz.

It was also suggested that a 1.9 ohm 10W resistor be put in series with the tweeter to bring the slightly "hot" tweeter balance back in line with the woofer although if they R used in a highly damped room, which is highly recommended, this could be dispensed with.

Bottom line, reverse tweeter polarity if the speaker grills R used, a very heavy/loaded speaker stand is recommended as is attention to room acoustics.
