You can't make silk purses out of sow's ears. The speakers drivers are an ultimate limitation. If you need to get new high quality drivers, as he suggests, to substantially benefit from a mod'd cross over, why bother.

I would be interested in a couple of things thoug

1) What experience does your friend have with the drivers used in your speakers.
2)What experience does he have using drivers in an enclosure the size and construction of your boxes?
3) Is he changing in better spec'd parts (simple upgrading) of the same design or is he changing the design of the cross over itself.

3)What does he charge?

4)Has he worked with these speakers before.

5)Can you get your money back if you cant hear the difference?

6)Can you reverse the mod if you don't like the results?
