Twenty-five years ago and prior damping factor was relevant as it was not uncommon for amps (tube) to have a factor below 10. That *was* a problem for some speakers. But this is no longer an issue in almost all modern amps. It has always been my understanding that, for example, the difference between a damping factor of say, 9 and and damping factor of 10 is *very* significant. However, once you get past 10 its all gravy. There is no audible difference in a damping factor of an amp with 11 compared with an amp with a damping factor of 500 or 1000.
