I dont own your tylers or JMLabs, however, I do own the VR2's from the VSA line and to me they sound really well in the bass dept, you wont need a separate bass unit with these speakers at all. Bass is tight, accurate and you can push them to their limits with no problem, at times they ask for more but I keep them well behaved with my Jolida 1000RC tube integrated amp.
