Re: Spendor SP100 Speakers

Thanks for the review. I'd be interested in a comparison of your SP100's versus the Living Voice Avatars you mention in your associated equipment
I dont believe that my main system was a good match for the Avatars so other than to say they didn't make they grade* I'll leave it at that. That being said I'm buying a Melody i2A3 amp (18 watt tube amp) and a Raysonic cd128 (plus a new yet decided upon phono stage) for the Avatars. Within the context of this system I'm sure the SP100s couldn't match the Avatars. Here is where the Living Voice speakers make the grade*.

*I mean sound extraordinarily good - great, ie. fantastic. It really is a synergy thing I hope you know.

Wouldn't the Living Voice speakers be a closer match sonically (to the Spendor's) than the PSB's ?
Not sure I agree. Within the context of what I consider good quality audio the Avatars and the SP100s are sonically worlds apart. Sonically the Avatars are more similar to the Golds than the SP100s. They share a certain dryness, extended bass response (Golds win) and both are somewhat forward in comparison to the Spendors. As far as a refined ability to convey music the Avatars are more like the Spendors than they are like PSBs. Or it may just be that finding this kind of musical expressiveness and passion through the PSB Stratus Golds just eluded me.
