"I come up with 87 dB/1 watt efficiency, or 90 dB/2.83 volt sensitivity, for the 4 ohm speaker (they're the same thing - just depends on whether the manufacturer specifies the 1-watt efficiency or 2.83-volt sensitivity [2.83 volts into 4 ohms = 2 watts])."When you say, "What would the db's sensitivity of a 4 ohm loudspeaker need to be...", you haven't specified whether that "sensitivity" is relative to a 1 watt input, or a 2.83 volt input. That's why my answer looks like it's two answers - one for each case - but it's really just the same answer expressed two different ways.
Chances are the manufacturer of the 4-ohm speaker would claim 90 dB/2.83 volts, as that looks more impressive on paper. But it's the same as 87 dB/1 watt in this case.
