I am using the NHT 3.3's in biamped mode, (Speaker terminal jumpers removed) with 300 wpc SS monoblocks to the bottom terminals and a 170 wpc SS integrated amp to the top terminals. The volume control on the integrated amp makes balancing the top and bottom end easier.I am using an adjustable active crossover between the preamp and the bottom end monoblocks. There is no question in my mind that the SS monoblocks are sending some signal to the mid/uppers, which the integrated amp should be the only amp doing this function. I can tell this by listening as I adjust the crossover point.
My goal is to keep the bottom end monoblocks from sending signal to the mid/upper drivers, but not block the woofers from getting signal.
Internal speaker crossover for the woofers are 100 Hz at 12db/octave. Active crossover is Nakamichi EC-100.
What crossover point would you recommend for the active crossover?
Currently I set the active crossover point at 200 Hz, which is one octave above the woofer crossover point of 100 Hz of the internal speaker crossover.
Thank you.
