SVS Ultra Subwoofer Makes Dog Bark, LOL

I have had one of these SVS Ultra Subwoofers for almost two months, just sitting here.
It came as part of a deal for some Klipsch Cornwalls.

I have a number of electronic components, and I really did not want to throw an active electronic crossover in the chain.

Then, I remembered that the Parasound P/SP 1000 pre amp that I had in the system has not only a subwoofer out, BUT it also has a built in 12 db crossover filter that is switchable from 60 to 100 hz.

This meant that I only needed to run a long are out cable from the back of the preamp to an amp.

BUT, what amp was I to use ?
AAH, how about a big Ashly FET 500 in bridged mono, yeah!
This amp will put over 1200 watts into 4 ohms.

And so, I placed the big Ashly FET 500 right next to the almost corner mounted SVS Ultra Subwoofer.

Then, I turned the amp on, and returned to my listening chair.

Holy Shit, this sub is the real deal!

The Parasound P/SP 1000 has remote volume control for the subwoofer, and I had to turn it way down.

I am getting an excellent blend with the B&W Matrix 801's, and they are now the "weak link" in my system.

They will just not play loud enough to fully "exploit" the SVS Subwoofers capability.

After seeing what the SVS "would do", the novelty kind of wore off, and I dialed it back down to a more musical setting.

It is tight and fast, but when low bass comes on, look out.

My kid left a bass CD in the transport, and when thee bass hit, my Doberman/Shepard Mix dog started barking like hell.

Now, Sadie, as she is called, is an "audiophile" dog.

She has heard it all, believe me.

I once tried the big Cerwin Vega CLSC 215's in here, a total of 4 15 inch woofers.

I tried to tame them by crossover mods, and gave up, but my kid loved them, because they really rock, and really hit.

But the one SVS Ultra literally loads my room like no subwoofer before it has.

And the deeper the bass, the better it likes it.

I have recently been tearing through my movie collection, seeking out deep bass.

I just gotta have another one of these, they look almost sinister, lurking in the corner.

I need a Parametric EQ to EQ them, not so they go lower, but I want it perfect.

These like a LOT of power, and my lights actually flicker as my power circuit struggles to provide ample electricity.

No big deal, but I can see a dedicated line is in my future.
