Near Field listening - what is that ?

I had a dealer bring over some home theater seating and he commented about my "near field" speaker setup. My current setup is an equilateral between speakers and sitting position 9-10 feet apart. There is also approximately 5 ft between speakers and each wall with speakers along short wall of 26x19 room. I'm not sure why this would be considered near-field since I still get substantial side reflections from the side walls (I may attempt to cure this with room treatments).

I have drapes along each (Brick) sidewall and have already blocked off the windows. I still have French doors on one side and the back wall which I'm sure is messing things up as side reflections would occur right where the side french door is located (I'm debating whether to fix this with "mobile" acoustic side panels to cover the door).
