Re: usual suspects...

*Ive been thinking of checking out the Naim Credo or Arriva which is more in my price range than the Allae.*

The Allaes used is less than a 3k$.

*Kuma do you know if the Credos can be setup actively??*

Yes.

*how are the Allae's in the bass department, can they give you that powerful bass that you can feel in your chest? Or do you need a sub with them if you want that kind of bass impact?>?*

The Allaes driven by CDS3/552/300 passively do fine in the bass weight in our medium size living room on a suspended wooden floor. ( 14 x 19 plus 11' x 10 )
In fact, I had to take a sub out.
The fast, tuneful and deep bass is difficult to achieve and it's usually costly.
Whilst a Naim system can never deliver the kind of bass typical of an American rig, when it's done right, it's just as powerful and impactful, albeit with better agility, as any other.

An active Credo or Allaes can be good, but with a 112/150 in a tow, I doubt you'd get a kind of bass authority you're looking for. A 250 is better suited. Not so much from its higher power rating, but it's a fatter sounding amplifier than either 150, 200 or even 300. The *baddest* bass output rivalling Krell is reserved for a 500.

Keeping in mind that going active does not necessarily mean *more* bass. From my experience what an active xover does is better control on drivers ( better timing ) and added natural feel ( better musical flow ). A bass goes deeper, of course, but with enhanced clarity and definition more so than an increased output.

*Do you still have the Allae's?*

Yep. I still enjoy them for time being. ;)
Unlike an SL2 or Elites I had in the same room, they are working better.
