"Why ruin modern drivers to get there..." lol very true!
Most "old skool speakers have larger woofers (10-15") which give them bass... It may not be all that clean but you can feel it and it is deep. I also concidered using a pro-audio driver as my bass unit in the 12"-15" range.
I have a pair of a-phile speakers, these are going to be for 100% fun! But I would like them to still sound nice and listenable. SO detail is not the absoulte. I definately would like to capture the warmpth of the older designs in this speaker as well.
I want to be able to put on something like AC-DC "For those about to rock" and absoultely blow the doors off while keeping the integrity of the sound intact... Remember for fun!
Lastly I will be driving these with a new-found (they didn't know what they had!!!) 300WPC Carver amp.
They will be the Drag-racer for the weekend while I have the Porche for the evenings.
Thanks Pjay!
