Check out the Velodyne CT-100 in that price range. It would be great for both movies and music, as it is a 10", so it'll still be nice and "fast". I would stay away from the JBL and the AR, go towards companies like Energy (like you mentioned), Paradigm, HSU Research, PSB, etc.Anyway, definitely audtition the CT-100 (C City carries them).
