Alon Thunderbolt Sub uses Parts Express Amp

About 4 years ago I bought an Alon Centris sub which was terrible until I put an Audio Concepts (ACI)SV10 driver in it. The box was very well built. Then last summer the amp developed a hum in it so I e-mailed Carl at Alon and he sent me out a free replacement which also had a hum. So, I bought a Parts Express 250 Watt amp and it was an awesome combination. No more hum...dead quiet. Well, today I received my brand new Thunderbolt and damn if it doesn't have the same identical amp in it. I was shocked and here is why. I bought the ACI SV10 driver for $120 and I paid $119 for the parts express amp, thats the whopping total of $239 and lets say that the 12" driver in the Thunderbolt is $200 that would bring it up to $319 and lets say the box costs $200 with the cherry veneer, were up to $519, and I'm sure a volume purchaser gets quite a volume price discount. The Thunderbolt retails for $1795 which based on these numbers is overpriced. I imagine Alon sells to the dealers at a 50% margin and the dealer makes his 50% margin. I think I need to start building sub woofers in my garage using Parts Express amps and a decent driver and sell them on ebay for $1000. BTW the Thunderbolt does sound great and I do notice a difference between the 10" and 12" driver. I guess I was just a little shocked to see a Parts Express amp in the thing.
