I built a pair of CA 5XLs from kit. They sound great.My system is a mid-powered Onkyo 5.1 reciever and Onkyo CD player.
My previous speakers were Energy Take-5s with the Energy 8" powered sub.I don't even use my sub anymore and am very happy with the amount of bass from the t-lined 5 1/4".
You may also want to hear Definitive Technology speakers.
They seem to get great write-ups. I have heard a few of their products (BP10's and some older towers) and they sounded good.
