The Proacs sound very nice with tubes, your 25wpc should be enough to drive them. I dislike them powered with SS amps, they sound bright to my ears, but with tube amps they truly sing. With tubes, the Sonus Faber Cremona would also fit the bill and have punchier bass than the Proacs, with SS amps depending on their character, you might find them agressive. The Merlins are also very transparent, clean and good sounding speakers, but I have only listened to them powered by SET amps and without the BAM, so I found the bass a bit short of presence and deepness. The BAM should improve that. In my opinion these Merlins have the most transparent, clean and airy sound from a dynamic speaker I have ever heard, perhaps more airy and transparent than my Amatis.... well comparing apples and oranges.Good luck,
