Bose speakers are among the very WORST ever designed by anyone. Here's why. First, they do not manufacture their own drivers. Any speaker designer knows that not having control over the drivers is a dissaster. Second, the drivers are all VERY cheap PAPER cones with cheaper still foam surrounds. The problem here SHOULD be obvious. Ever read a 5 year old newspaper? Foam rotts....quickly, therefore rendering the spekaer defective. Third, in the case of the direct reflecting series (301,501,901 et all) Bose uses multiple same size drivers as full range speakers and applies 28db of artificial boost at the low and high frequencies. Any audiophile knows how nasty eq's are (or anything else in the signal path for that matter) and should be avoided like the plague. Fourth, these multiple same size drivers are wired in a series/parellel configuration, meaning that after the first speaker see's the signal from the amplifier, every successive speaker is now being driven not by the amp, which has an ideal output impedence, but by the speaker ahead of it, which does NOT have the ideal output impedence and worse still is frequency dependant. Fifth, bouncing music off the REAR walls is a stupid idea. Different walls are made of different substances creating different reflection times and patterns. Also, listeners vary in their physical distance from the speakers. High frequencies are VERY direct, meaning they will never be time aligned with the mids or lows in these speakers. Sixth, people, PLEASE LISTEN to the speakers..........not the hype. Compare them at the same volume to ANYTHING else. But don't fall for the Bose dealers tricks. They are known for wiring the competition out of phase to make the Bose appear to have SOME sort of low frequency content. These speakers are crap. Plain and simple. DON'T BUY BOSE ANYTHING. As far as the wave radio goes.......it's a $350 dollar CLOCK RADIO people. Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!
