This is partially a gut feeling, but the D'Appolito transmission lineThor speaker kit can be bought from Madisound for about $2000 and assembled in a few hours. You might even gild the lily by adding extra damping with Dynamat, etc. to improve the Madisound cabinets. I haven't heard the Thor itself, but I heard a reflex loaded speaker with the same drivers and crossovers and was highly impressed and the transmission line should be better especially in the bass. And the specs and test results for the Thor I've seen are awesomely impressive. I know specs are far from an entire story but the measurements I've seen usually correlate well to listening and do seem to confirm the sound I heard from the reflex version.
