Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Is there such a thing as inexpensive horns (or stats)?

Hi all,

I'm perfectly content with the capabilities of my Swifts and I expect to be for some time, but I've been looking into more expensive (say around $2000) speakers just, y'know, for future reference, and I was trying to find, in particular, some affordable horns, some shorter-than-six-feet-high electrostatics...somewhat more exotic speakers that would be good for a small room.
What I especially love about my Swifts is the design, I haven't seen any other dynamic speakers that look anything like as nice. So horns and stats appeal to me from a design perspective in particular...but it doesn't seem like there's any 'deal' with non-dynamic speakers. I was pretty turned-on by the Avantgardes I saw until I found out that the Solo's cost $11,000.
So, just for curiousity's sake, is there anything like a $2000-$2500 'giant-killing' horn or stat? Let me qualify that: are there any electrostatic speakers that aren't six feet high for around that price?

Again, I'm not about to part with my Swifts. But this is Audio Asylum, after all. People might get suspicious if I didn't at least give the impression of dissatisfaction...;-)

Thanks in advance for any leads.
