Hi, I'm looking to put together a audio system for the living room of my apartment and I'm feeling as though I'm not knowledgeable enough about higher-end speakers to make an informed decision. It seems like all of the high-end audio stores in down have particular brands that they push at various price points and they don't have the brands of their competitors (so I can't directly compare).I’ll be using the system to listen to music (techno, vocal stuff (e.g., Sarah Brightman), and music from many other genres) and for surround sound purposes. I really like the sound and look of Bang & Olufsen equipment (sorry if that is offensive to any of you audiophiles) but I can't really afford it right now. So far, I've looked at B&W speakers, KEF and Phase technology.
So, if anyone has any suggestions for a somewhat small room (13 ft. x 15 ft.) for speakers that are crisp and responsive while somewhat aesthetically pleasing in a contemporary setting, I would love their to read their thoughts. I only have $1750 to $2750 to spend at the moment so I realize my options may be somewhat limited.
Thanks in advance,
Ken
